The Marshmallow Overcoat

Formed in Tucson, Arizona by lead singer Timothy Gassen with a band name inspired by dialogue in Martin Scorsese’s The Last Waltz, The Marshmallow Overcoat have been an essential element of the American garage and psychedelic music scene since 1986, releasing their debut LP, The Inner Groove, on legendary label Dionysus Records the following year.

The band’s signature “Arizona Sound” is informed by their love of everyone from The Chocolate Watchband, Doors, Beatles, Byrds, Strawberry Alarm Clock and Electric Prunes to The Fuzztones and early Miracle Workers.
